Canadians!!!!

In the midst of this crazy week, I think I have time for one quick blog! After a few days off, our Canadian medical brigade arrived on Thursday. They made it to the house from Managua at about 11:30AM and were at the hospital working by 1PM! They proceeded to work into the late hours of the night and then get up the next morning and start all over again. They're even working on Saturday! I'm working as a translator for them in the hospital so that means that I also have been working a TON in addition to my project work.
The doctors are going to try and perform 100+ surgeries and small procedures this week including: removing gall bladders, hernia repairs, hysterectomies, cleft palate repairs, and other plastic surgeries. In the first two and a half days we screened and scheduled all of the surgeries for the next week and a half. The patients have come from as far as six hours away for the chance to receive a free surgery. They are all very patient and grateful and it's unbelievable to be able to witness all of this.
In beading news, I went out to Los Rotarios last Thursday to check in with the beaders. They all are doing great and really making some beautiful jewelry! I picked up over 40 stretchy bracelets from them to sell here in the house. I'm thinking I'll also send some home with Sabrina to see if Rosann can sell some in the States. I will also be buying single beads from them soon to send home to make the higher class jewelry. I will be sure to let you all know when it's ready to buy!!
Tony is doing great! After eating out his last stitches from his hernia repair, I had to bring him back to the vet on Monday to get restitched. He did NOT like that. Poor little guy. At one point I sewed him this little sock that wrapped around his head and tied in back to keep him from biting his wound open. He also had little gauze and tape booties on! While it was pathetic, it was also extremely adorable! He is getting very big and doing well with the house training. Although he does really like to chew on everything--especially fingers! One thing we're grateful for is how well he is doing with the groups. We let him wander around the house freely and play with everyone and we haven't had any problems yet. Did I also mention that he's getting so big!?! Hambone sent him a little bone nametag that says Tonero to hang on his collar..now we just have to wait for him to grow into his collar!
I hope everyone is doing well at home and I'll talk to ya'll soon! (yea, I said ya'll)
